Bengaluru techie suicide: Journalist faces brutal backlash after saying 'blaming Atul Subhash's wife is criminal'
Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash's suicide has sparked national outrage after his 24-page note detailed harassment by his estranged wife, leading to calls for her termination from Accenture. After journalist Akshita Nandagopal defended the wife, she is facing intense criticism.
The tragic suicide of Bengaluru-based techie Atul Subhas has sparked nationwide outrage. Atul left behind a 24-page note alleging relentless harassment and extortion by his wife and family, whom he held responsible for his ordeal. The incident has led to a social media storm, with #JusticeForAtulSubhash trending on X as people demand that Accenture, where his wife works, terminate her employment. Meanwhile, a journalist from India Today who opposed these calls for termination is now facing public backlash.
Akshita Nandagopal, Editor and Anchor at India Today, took to X yesterday with her response to the tragic suicide of Atul Subhas.
In her post, she stated, "While Atul's suicidal is tragic, to jump the gun and blame his wife is CRIMINAL. So many calls on social media for her to be fired, for her arrest are absolutely uncalled for."

Her comments came after news broke that Subhas had accused his wife of harassment in a 24-page suicide note, prompting widespread calls for her dismissal from her workplace, Accenture.
Akshita's stance quickly attracted backlash.
One commenter fired back, "Her dismissal from Accenture is the bare minimum they should do after her husband's suicide. A man took his life because of her constant harassment, and you¡¯re worried about calls for her arrest and firing?"
To this, Nandagopal responded by asking, "Has there been a probe? Have we heard from both sides? The bare minimum in any case?"

Others pointed out what they saw as double standards, recalling her previous harsh stance when she called for actor Dhanush to be "hanged" based solely on allegations from Tamil actresses.

She wanted to hang Dhanush just because allegations on him were RTd by Tamil Actresses.
But the Same Akshita Nandagopal wants people to not outrage on the woman who was named in her husband's suicide note as the sole reason for him end pic.twitter.com/4IVon4dI2l
The media has already started to spit on the grave of this braveheart. What is the worth of mens life? News reporter from India today. Such a shame.

In his suicide note, 34-year-old Atul Subhas accused his wife, who works at Accenture and was already receiving Rs 40,000 in monthly maintenance, of demanding an additional Rs 2-4 lakh from him.
He further claimed that she used the maintenance money to alienate their son from him, who was under her custody.
The note also detailed various serious accusations, including murder threats, sexual misconduct, financial harassment, domestic violence, and dowry demands.
Subhas's family revealed that his wife had filed multiple false cases against him and then sought Rs 3 crore in exchange for dropping the charges.
