These European Countries Will Reportedly Not Require Travellers To Self-Isolate When Visiting

One thing people would want to do the most in the post lockdown world is travel. However, many countries will be imposing a mandatory quarantine on travellers which might not be something a lot of them would be looking forward to.

For example a mandatory 14-day quarantine for anyone arriving in the UK is set to be introduced from June 8. The proposal that requires travellers to isolate at one address or face a fine of up to ?1,000, is meeting opposition.

However, there are a few countries that will not require travelers to self-isolate upon arrival, and may be those are the countries you should make plans to visit.

Portugal

According to a Mirror UK report, Portugal might open its borders to tourists for some countries from this weekend. However, visitors will still have health checks at airports and be referred to the authorities if they appear unwell.

If you are travelling to the Azores, you need to have proof of a negative COVID-19 test done at least three days before arrival. The other option is that you take a test there and wait for results while in quarantine.

Spain

Spain is set to open its borders on July 1 and the mandatory two-week quarantine is set to be lifted from June 21 for visitors from some countries.

Germany

Germany will allow travel from June 15 with no quarantine. That said, FCO (The Foreign and Commonwealth Office) has laid great stress on travellers still needing a valid reason for entering Germany.

Again, initially this holds true only for a handful of countries.

Iceland

The Icelandic government has announced plans to lift travel restrictions for international visitors by June 15 at the latest. But all passengers arriving at Keflavik Airport will be tested for coronavirus and are expected to receive results the same day.

Italy

Italy is reopening its border to tourists from the UK on June 3. And eventually to other countries.

Travellers will reportedly not be required to quarantine unless they have been to a non-approved country, such as the USA, in the 14 days before arriving in Italy.

Austria

In order to avoid self isolation in Austria, travellers must carry a certificate showing a negative test result for coronavirus, one taken in the past four days.

In airports such as Vienna, arrivals can pay for an on-site test and also have their temperatures taken.

While international travel has still not begun from India, you can still plan your trips somewhere down the year.
