Domestic Flight Fares Capped - Full List Of Routes And Air Fares
A cap on fares for flight tickets on domestic routes will be set for the next three months. The government has announced on Thursday a series of rules and regulations that will govern intra-country air travel in the coming weeks.
The airlines will resume domestic flights from Monday, but partially, as the country now is in the process of existing from the nationwide lockdown. One third of the usual flights will operate in India with strict restrictions on hygiene and social distancing.
The new regulations are set and the government is capping the air fare. The aim is to keep the prices affordable for fliers and at the same time are financially viable for airlines to fly without losses as they have suffered in the past months.
The air fares will be set according to seven sector classes, which have been divided according to approximate flight. Under the new air fares regulations, the cheapest ticket for domestic flight in India would cost around 2,000 while the most expensive will be for 18,600. These fares will be applicable for all flights until 11:59 pm on August 24.
Illustrating how the new air fare limit will work, the Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the ticket rates for the Delhi Mumbai route will be priced between a minimum of 3,500 and a maximum of Rs. 10,000. Further, 40 per cent of all seats on one flight must be sold at a price less ¡°than the midpoint of the band¡±.
The List of Domestic Air fare : Route & Flights
Air fares will be set across the country based on seven route classes. Here¡¯s the list of the seven classes and their respective airfare bands:
- Class A: If the flight is less than 40 mins, Rs 2,000 to Rs 6,000
- Class B: If the flight is 40-60 mins, Rs 2,500 to Rs 7,500
- Class C: If the flight is 60-90 mins, Rs 3,000 to Rs 9,000
- Class D: If the flight is 90-120 mins, Rs 3,500 to Rs 10,000
- Class E: If the flight is 120-150 mins, Rs 4,500 to Rs 13,000
- Class F: If the flight is 150-180 mins, Rs 5,500 to Rs 15,700
- Class G: If the flight is 180-210 mins, Rs 6,500 to Rs 18,600
These fare prices do not include the UDF - User Development Fees, Passenger Service Fees -PSF and the goods & services - GST.
