A lady rushed to Reddit to share a screenshot of a text message she claimed to have gotten from her boss after missing work due to her father's death. The post has caused debate among netizens, with many expressing their anger.
What did the employee text her boss after her father passed away?
"My father died, and I have missed some work. He was in the ICU for two weeks, so I missed a significant amount of work. I understand that it's not ideal. But I did call in today. And this is the response I get,¡± the Reddit user wrote.
While responding to her own post, she stated, "My father was in the ICU from January 25th to February 10th when we pulled the plug and he died. When I realised things weren't getting better, I called and informed her I was going to take a week off. I returned to work a few days before he died, then took two days off for his burial. So I ended up taking a total of ten days off. I returned to work on February 15th, and this was the first time I'd called off since then."
How did the boss respond to her text?
In the text she received, her employer criticized her and said, "We all go through a lot of things, but no matter what, we have to show up every day".
What did the internet has to say?
The post was shared one day ago. Since then, the share has received almost 6,000 upvotes. The post has also attracted a variety of emotions.
"Do not quit this job! Make them fire you. Make sure you keep every text you have! And get an email address so you can write to them through email. Make sure you keep all the responses," a user wrote in response.
"Your boss is a terrible leader. They can't shoulder the burden of doing their job and dealing with unexpected circumstances. That is not remotely on you, nor should you spare a moment's thought in your time of loss. Employees are not a steady thing. That's by design. Human life is complicated. If her register broke, she'd figure it out. This is no different," said another.
