"I've taken great care of him over the years, and he is still in relatively very good shape... and really cute still, which is surprising considering his age!" Alex Wolf, owner of Gino Wolf, told Guinness World Records.
On November 15, 2022, Gino celebrated his 22nd birthday in Los Angeles, California, the United States.
The secret of Gino Wolf's long life
The dog's owner, Alex Wolf, emphasises the secrets to Gino's longevity: a healthy, balanced diet and veterinary care. Gino enjoys activities like taking naps by the fire, munching on salmon snacks, and riding around the neighbourhood in a wagon as he ages because his eyesight isn't as good as it once was.
In an interview with Today, dog owner Alex Wolf said that when Gino was younger, he used to love exploring my parents' huge backyard with our other dogs in Manhattan Beach, going on walks off the leash in Venice, going on drives along the coast blasting music with his head out the window, or running around on the golf course in La Quinta.
He also added that Gino enjoys activities like taking naps by the fire, munching on salmon snacks, and riding around the neighbourhood in a wagon as he ages because his eyesight isn't as good as it once was.
In fact, Wolf took a particularly long car ride to honour Gino's Guinness World Record.
Pebbles, a toy fox terrier, previously held the world record for the oldest living dog before he passed away on October 3, 2022.
As per the Guinness World Records report, "Pebbles peacefully passed away from natural causes at her home in Taylors, South Carolina, USA, with her owners Bobby and Julie Gregory by her side."
Pebbles, who was born on March 28, 2000, in Long Island, NY, USA, took the world by storm when news of her age made headlines. The tiny terrier was five months away from her 23rd birthday.
