Glenn Maxwell reveals he was once blocked by Virat Kohli on Instagram, shares his response: 'It was when you mocked me'
Glenn Maxwell recently shared an amusing story about his friendship with Virat Kohli during a podcast, revealing that Kohli had blocked him on Instagram over a past incident. The two have formed a strong bond since then, as teammates at Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli have been teammates at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the past four seasons, forming a strong camaraderie on and off the field. However, a recent revelation from Maxwell during a podcast has sparked considerable interest: he candidly shared the moment he discovered Kohli had blocked him on Instagram due to a past incident.
In a recent episode of the LiSTNR Sport podcast, Glenn Maxwell opened up about his warm welcome to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from Virat Kohli.
He recalled, "When I knew that I was going to RCB, Virat was the first guy to message me and welcome me to the team."
Maxwell shared their bond quickly strengthened during the pre-IPL training camp, where they spent significant time training together: "When I turned up for the pre-IPL training camp, we obviously got chatting and spent a fair bit of time training together as you do."
However, Maxwell was taken aback when he tried to follow Kohli on social media. "So, I go to his social media to follow him. I didn't even think about it before that. Never really crossed my mind. I was like, 'I can't find him,'" he explained.
Initially confused, he thought maybe Kohli wasn't very active on social media. But when someone suggested that Kohli might have blocked him, he was in disbelief: "I was like, surely not."
Maxwell eventually confronted Kohli about it, asking directly, "Have you blocked me on Instagram?"
To his surprise, Kohli admitted, "Yeah, probably. It was when you mocked me during that Test match. I think I got the sh*** and decided to block you."
Maxwell responded, "That's fair enough," but after that, they ended up 'being great friends.'
The incident in question occurred during the third Test between India and Australia in Ranchi in 2017, when Kohli injured his shoulder while fielding. Maxwell had humorously mimicked Kohli's injury during Australia's batting, which didn¡¯t sit well with the Indian superstar and led to the block.
