Maharashtra To Have Beach Shacks On 8 Beaches To Attract Tourists
Maharashtra government has decided to have shacks on some beaches to attract and boost tourism. 'Eight beaches in Maharashtra have been approved for eco-friendly Beach Shacks. This will be a major tourist facility,' Aaditya Thackeray wrote on Twitter.
Tourism industry is one of the worst-hit by the coronavirus pandemic, and even though tourist travel does not seem to be on the cards in India anytime soon, states are coming up with ways to attract tourists.
For example, in an attempt to develop tourism and eventually attract more people, the Maharashtra government has cleared a proposal for setting-up beach shacks, Mumbai Mirror reports.
The temporary shacks will be similar to the ones seen on beaches of Goa. These will be set-up along the coastline of eight beaches in the state.
The decision was reportedly approved at a Cabinet meeting in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Today I¡¯m thankful to my cabinet colleagues for passing two key policies for tourism development in Maharashtra.

The government has also decided that seven properties of the MTDC will be up for lease for 90 years. The government said, "This will help the State with increased revenue and most importantly build a world-class tourism hospitality sector in Maharashtra with partnerships with the best hotel brands in the world."
We hope when states do open for tourism, this proves to be attractive enough for tourists to flock to Maharashtra beaches.
