NASA Shares Image Of Mars Crater, People Say It Looks Like 'Alien Footprint'
The image was captured by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration using the High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
A new photo of Mars was captured by NASA which shows the planet's southern crater up close. The image was shared by the space agency on social media with the caption, ¡°The Martian crater marks the spot. The map is projected here at a scale of 50 centimetres (19.7 inches) per pixel."

Social media users commented on the post by NASA and said that the image resembles an alien footprint.
¡°Looks like an alien footprint on Mars,¡± wrote one user.

In the caption, NASA also mentioned that a larger crater sits within a second rocky basin, designated the "Airy Crater". According to the post, the Airy Crater originally defined zero-longitude for the Red Planet.
However, since scientists started capturing more detailed images of the planet's surface, they required a more precise market. So, NASA designated the smaller crater, named Airy-0 (zero) as its Prime Meridian to avoid altering existing maps.
