Strange 80-foot object unearthed in Daytona beach, Florida
The mysterious structure is reportedly 80 feet long and was first spotted by locals and tourists on Daytona Beach Shores in Volusia County after Hurricanes Ian and Nicole resulted in soil erosion in the area.
The strange object appears to be made of wood, however, the archaeological team is yet to examine the object.
Volusia County has reportedly sent an archaeological team to investigate the scene, though it said the area could not be roped off because of rising water levels during high tide.
Volusia County Beach Safety spokeswoman Tammy Malphurs told Wesh2News an erosion of this kind has not been seen 'in a very long time.'
"We haven't seen this kind of erosion in a very long time. I've been on the beach for probably 25 years and that's the first time I've seen it exposed. We're not sure what it is," she said.
The mysterious object appears to be a shipwreck from the 1800s
