What do you get when you combine an overwhelmed bride and her desire to wanting her bridesmaids to look a certain way at all costs? The potential for conflict. That's exactly what happened in this case.
A bridesmaid is taking a bride to court after she was kicked out of her bridal party for cutting her hair.
As per a post on Reddit¡¯s Am I The A**hole forum, the unnamed bridesmaid revealed that she had chosen to cut her hair due to health issues, but her friend thought her new look would spoil her wedding photos.
For a three-day wedding, the alleged bridesmaid was told to buy three dresses. Including dress alterations and shoes to match, the outfit expenses totaled to $700.
¡°For my friend¡¯s three-day wedding, I had to buy three different dresses (including alterations, and specific shoes which totalled over $700. She also wanted specific hairstyles for each day. Unfortunately starting in March my hair started to deteriorate. Due to health reasons, my hair was falling out in chunks and in May I made the difficult decision to cut my hair," she wrote.
"I told the bride about my decision two weeks before the wedding and she didn¡¯t say anything bad. The following week, she came over to my house and when she was about to leave, she brought up that she was concerned about my haircut and I told her it would look good even though I wouldn¡¯t be uniform with the other bridesmaids," she added.
However, it seemed the bride wasn't too happy with her answer, as the following day she was sent this message: "After our recent conversations, I¡¯d like to remind you of my boundaries: I¡¯ve been very accommodating and graceful, but I can¡¯t allow you to disrespect me. As you know, my wedding has been something I¡¯ve dreamt of for many years. (Husband) and I have invested a lot of money into the video and photos of this day and as we reflect on this day in the further we want to see our vision reflected in the memories."
The bride went on and on and on in her text. ¡°The timing of your decision to cut your hair and not income in advance is very upsetting to me.¡±
¡°I would have felt respected if you had communicated with me more than a week prior to the wedding,¡± she allegedly continued, ¡°So we could have worked together to find a collaborative solution. Your inconsistencies have concerned me and while I sympathise with your health concerns, I¡¯m not willing to compromise my vision to accommodate you (or anyone else) when you have informed me in advance and we could have found a better solution.¡±
The ex-bridesmaid also said that she then sent the couple an invoice for the costs she had incurred prepping for the big day. But neither of them replied so she ¡°decided to take it the court.¡±
Instead of forcing her to not get the haircut, she asks her to ¡°please step down from participating in [her] wedding.¡±
Well, that's just too harsh. Another day, another bride misunderstanding the concept of setting boundaries.
