Turkey: Farmer Fitted VR Headsets To His Cows To Give Them A Feel Of Outside & Produce More Milk; It Worked
A farmer has fitted his cooped-up cows with virtual reality goggles to make them think they are outside in summer pastures
A farmer is using virtual reality goggles on his cows who are cooped just so that they think they are outside in summer pastures.
This farmer named Izzet Kocak tried out the headsets on two of his cattle after a study suggested the pleasant scenes make cows happier and produce more milk.
He told The Sun that this method of using VR goggles actually produced good results with output increasing from 22 litres to 27 litres a day.
This cattle farmer from Aksaray, Turkey said: 'They are watching a green pasture and it gives them an emotional boost. They are less stressed.' Interesting pictures from his cow shed show one of the bovines sporting the goggles while happily munching on grass.
Commenters online have compared the images to 'scenes from the classic sci-fi movie The Matrix'.

These goggles were developed with vets and first tested on a farm in Moscow. Farmers worked with developers, vets and consultants at the Krasnogorsk farm near Moscow, to beam the cattle a simulation of a summer field. The study revealed how it reduced anxiety and improved the overall emotions of the herd.

Russia¡¯s agriculture ministry said the system was developed on the principle that cows perceived shades of red better than shades of blue and green. It added: ¡°During the first test, experts recorded a decrease in anxiety.¡±
Well, hope something like this gets invented for us humans too. Wait, there is.
