Family Falls Sick After Eating 'Ganja Sabzi' As Vegetable Seller Sold Weed As Methi As A 'Joke'

In a highly unusual incident, a family in Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj cooked 'ganja sabzi' and ate it assuming it was methi (fenugreek).

The incident was reported from Miyaganj village. According to Navbharat Times report, a man named Naval Kishore jokingly gave a packet of weed or ¡®ganja¡¯ to a fellow villager¡¯s son, Nitesh, claiming that it was methi; the latter apparently did not realise what he had was not a vegetable. He gave the weed packet to his sister-in-law who also did not realise, that instead of ¡®aloo methi¡¯ she was making ¡®ganja sabzi¡¯.

Patrika reports that after the six members of the family ate the sabzi containing weed, their health deteriorated and they asked their neighbors to call a doctor. The family reportedly fainted and was hospitalised.

Police investigation found the ¡®ganja sabzi¡¯ and uncooked weed along with it. The cops seized the two and the vegetable seller was also detained - he reportedly said that he sold ganja instead of methi as a joke.

Reportedly, the family is recovering and is under medical care.

Even though this was a mistake and the ¡®ganja sabzi¡¯ was not supposed to be made, there are various types of marijuana edibles solely made with the purpose of ¡®eating¡¯ weed, especially in places where it is legal.
