A man took matters into his own hands when he wrestled an alligator in his front yard after his daughter spotted the reptile.
The incident took place in Missouri City, Texas, US. Mike Trinh shared his epic battle with the alligator on Facebook, explaining that he initially thought his daughter was trying to trick him in order to avoid going to school.
"It's my youngest daughter's first day in middle school. As she's about to go to the car, she runs back saying there's an alligator at the front door. I'm thinking she's playing. 'Stop it you're going to school'," he said.
When Trinh went out, he was stunned to see what his daughter saw right outside their front door. It was an alligator.
Trinh knew what he had to do as he chanelled his childhood hero, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin.
"All my years watching Steve Irwin, I figured I can deal with any wildlife, as long as it ain't a stingray," he wrote.
Trinh threw a towel over the reptile's head in a bid to calm it down. Videos showed him throwing various towels over it, with one even landing in the animal¡¯s open mouth.
After successfully covering the gator¡¯s head, Trinh took his daughter to school but when he returned, he found the reptile still in his driveway.
With help from his 19-year-old, Trinh wrangled the reptile and held its mouth closed so it wouldn¡¯t bite his daughter. They then securely wrapped the animal¡¯s jaws closed with duct tape.
A friend helped Trinh load the alligator into his car and drove to a nearby pond, where they released it.
