Japan Plane Carrying 335 Forced To Return As Destination Airport Refuses Landing Over 10-Min Delay
Plane Carrying 335 Makes U-Turn As Destination Airport Refuses Landing Due To 10-Minute Delay
Recent news stories say that a Japan Airlines plane with 335 people on board had to make an unplanned return to its departure point because it got there 10 minutes late.
The flight was scheduled to land at the Fukuoka Airport in Hakata-ku, in Fukuoka prefecture.
The jet had left Haneda Airport in Tokyo. On February 19, the flight was supposed to take off at 6.30 p.m., but for reasons that are still being looked into, it was delayed until 8 p.m. instead.
The distance between the two cities, Tokyo and Fukuoka, is more than 1,000 kilometers.
According to reports from the Asahi Shimbun newspaper, the airplane landed in Fukuoka 10 minutes after the final landing cutoff of 10 p.m. It was not allowed to land, and the crew had to continue their journey back to Tokyo for another five hours.
The pilot had to make a pit stop at the Kansai Airport to have the jet serviced and refueled on the way back.
At 2:50 in the morning, it landed safely in Tokyo. On the morning of February 20, the airline that transported the passengers arranged to be flown to Fukuoka from the hotel where they had been staying.

Since people live nearby, the aircraft was prohibited from landing in Fukuoka after 10 p.m. to prevent them from being disturbed.
But, if inclement weather or any other circumstance causes a delay that must be avoided, the deadline may be extended. However, according to the authorities, Japan Airlines' disruption was unavoidable.
