Desi Delight Gone Wrong? Street Vendor Makes Moong Dal Veggie Pizza, Internet Asks 'Just Why?'

The internet is a space where everything bizarre and weird makes sense. Perhaps that may be why bizarre food combinations do so well on the algorithm. The newest combo going viral on social media is a Delhi street vendor¡¯s invention: moong dal pizza.

Food blogger Live For Food shared a video on his Instagram account and shocked people on the internet with a Delhi street food vendor¡¯s bizarre desi twist on pizza. We all are more than familiar with a basic pizza, the one that has bread as a base with tomato sauce, veggies, and cheese as toppings.
Even the most bizarre combinations of pizzas have at least its bread base in common but this desi vendor wanted to do away with the unhealthy origins of the pizza base which is primarily made of maida (plain flour).
In order to make a healthier option for pizza lovers, a street vendor who sells the fruits of his labour near the ITO Metro station invented the moong dal base instead of the plain flour one. In the clip, the vendor shows how he prepares the ¡°healthy¡± pizza option.
Street Vendor Starts His Dish By Making A Base Out Of Moong Dal
He first adds the moong dal mixture to a heated pan and makes a pancake of sorts. Once the mixture is cooked, he splits open the pancake and added cheese, veggies, and some more cheese to the inside of the pancake.
The vendor then closes the pancake he split and adds more cheese on top to give it the face of a pizza. Once the cheese is melted, the vendor serves the moong dal pizza hot to the food blogger. In his closing remarks, the blogger informed his audience that the cheese burst pizza was worth Rs 200 at the stall and was, in his opinion, the best option for a healthy and affordable pizza.
While the blogger gave the dish a thumbs up, his audience was not on the same page as him. People refuted the claim that the pizza was in any shape or form ¡°healthy.¡± Many mentioned the processed cheeses used to make the pizza as well as the block of butter the vendor added on top of the pizza.

Many came forward and wondered what the point of the dish was while some noted that it was a much better option to just have a real pizza with the same amount of cheese and additives than stomp their craving with a moong dal pizza.
