This Thailand Fast Food Chain Is Selling 'Crazy Happy Pizza' Which Is Made With Cannabis

The Pizza Company, a major fast food chain in Thailand, is selling its 'Crazy Happy Pizza', which is made with real cannabis but won¡¯t get customers high.

It¡¯s because the fresh cannabis plant leaf used is deep fried.

The ¡°Crazy Happy Pizza¡± has a combination of toppings inspired by the flavours of Thailand's famous Tom Yum Gai soup, as well as a deep-fried cannabis leaf on top. Cannabis is also infused into the cheese crust and an accompanying dipping sauce, the Associated Press reported.

¡°Of course, they cannot get high. It¡¯s just a marketing campaign and you can taste the cannabis and then if you have enough, you maybe get a bit sleepy," the company¡¯s general manager Panusak Suensatboon told AP.

A 9-inch sized 'Crazy Happy Pizza' costs 499 baht (Rs 1,100). For a nominal surcharge, customers can add two or three cannabis leaves.

Although recreational marijuana is illegal and can land offenders in jail, cannabis is regulated for medicinal use in Thailand. In February, legislation allowed them to be used in foods and beverages.

Cannabis-based products not exceeding 0.2% of its total weight in tetrahydrocannabinol ¡ª THC ¡ª are legally allowed, virtually eliminating the possibility of seriously feeling any effects.

But Crazy Happy Pizza hasn¡¯t experienced successful sales after being available for months at eateries across the country due to laws restricting it from being advertised or sold to anyone under the age of 12.
