Tyson Foods CFO arrested for public intoxication, trespassing
John Tyson, the CFO of Tyson Foods, was arrested in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Sunday, and charged with public intoxication and criminal trespass after a woman called the police after finding him on her bed.
Police received a call from a college-aged woman about a potential burglary, after she returned to her home and found Tyson passed out in her bed. She told police she found "a male she did not know asleep in her bed," according to the arrest report.
When an officer arrived, he found Tyson, 32, with clothing strewn on the floor and identified him by an ID found in his wallet.
The officer woke Tyson up, who briefly sat up in bed but did not verbally respond and then laid back down and attempted to go to sleep, the preliminary arrest report said.
According to the officer, Tyson's movements were "sluggish and uncoordinated" and there was an odour of intoxicants on his breath and body,
John Tyson was released on a $415 bond
Tyson was placed under arrest on charges of public intoxication and criminal trespassing and released late Sunday on a $415 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 1.
Tyson is the son of Tyson Foods Chairman John H. Tyson. After working as an investment banker at J.P. Morgan, Tyson joined Tyson Foods in 2019 and led its sustainability and enterprise strategy teams.
In late September, the company based in Springdale, Arkansas, promoted him to executive vice president and chief financial officer.
According to the companyĄ¯s website. He holds a BachelorĄ¯s degree in Economics from Harvard University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the Stanford University.
Tyson Foods spokesman Derek Burleson said Monday that the company is aware of the incident but considers it a personal matter and has no additional comment.
