Bajaj has confirmed its entry into the Indian electric vehicle market. The renowned two-wheeler maker will be coming up with its first electric scooter under the sub-brand Urbanite. While the launch date of the same is known, what is not confirmed is the name of the electric two-wheeler. A new report now sheds more light on the subject.
In the press invites sent out by Bajaj for the upcoming launch, there are several hints for a vehicle with an electric drivetrain. What stresses on it is the tagline used by the firm, ¡®Humara Kal¡¯ (Our Tomorrow), that seems to look positively towards an electric future in India. This is further followed by ¡°We wrote history. Now we write the future¡± hinting at an entirely new product in the company¡¯s lineup.
Still, the invite does not give away the name of the electric scooter. What does give a glimpse of the same is a recently leaked document. As per a report by Rushlane, the document Bajaj has registered the name Chetak Chic Electric for its first ever electric scooter. It is not hard to believe the same, as the company was since long rumoured to revive its famous scooter Chetak anytime soon.

Now it seems that the scooter will find a form in an all-new electric make. So in all probability Bajaj Chetak Chic electric is the one poised to be Bajaj¡¯s first e-scooter and will be launched on October 16, in the presence of the minister of road transport and highways - Nitin Gadkari and Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog as mentioned in the invite.
To recall, Bajaj had confirmed at the start of the year that it will now be focusing on making electric two-wheelers in the country. The Chetak Chic electric, if it comes to be known as the same, will be the first of a range of such products.
Spy images of the same have been doing the rounds on the Internet. You can check out a video of the scooter on a test run here.
