After several sightings of its camouflaged test mules, Skoda has finally launched? its all electric Enyaq iV SUV. The electric SUV comes as the first ever vehicle by Skoda based on Volkswagen¡¯s MEB modular electric car platform.
With both rear as well as all-wheel drive options, the new Skoda Enyaq iV comes in three battery sizes and five power outputs ranging from 109 to 225 kW. As for the range, Skoda promises that the electric SUV will go up to 510 km in the WLTP cycle.
The new SUV by Skoda is claimed to offer a similar amount of interior space as a Skoda Kodiaq, in a length shorter than a Skoda Octavia.The highlights on the exterior of the EV include an illuminated Crystal Face with an animated ¡°Coming/Leaving Home¡± function. Other such optional extras include a full LED Matrix headlights sporting the Skoda grille as well as full LED tail lights with dynamic indicators.
As for the interiors, Skoda has done away with the classic trims and has instead brought new Design Selections. These Design Selections represent a new, clearer structure of choices available ¨C ten themed packages as well as some individual options. Skoda says that it has used the natural, sustainably processed and recycled materials for the interiors of the Enyaq iV.?
For connectivity and infotainment, the Enyaq iV employs a 13 inches central screen, larger than in any other Skoda. The vehicle comes equipped with a driving assist feature too called ¡®Travel Assist¡¯ that now has even more functions than before, including remote-controlled and trained parking.
Skoda Enyaq iV is available in three battery sizes and five different power variants. The two most powerful models among these are fitted with a second electric motor on the front axle, thus making them all-wheel drive options. Here are all these variants in more detail:
Skoda Enyaq 50 iV - The entry level model is fitted with a 109-kW rear-mounted electric motor that delivers a maximum torque of 220 Nm. Its lithium-ion battery has a gross capacity of 55 kWh that promises a range of up to 340 km.
Skoda Enyaq 60 iV - With an 132 kW motor, this variant can churn out a max torque of 310 Nm. It is backed by a 62 kWh battery that can cover up to 390 km on a single charge.
Skoda Enyaq 80 iV - The most powerful variant with a rear-wheel drive, this one employs a 150 kW electric motor with a max torque of 310 Nm. An 82 kWh battery enables the longest range on this model among the lot - 510 km on a single charge.
Skoda Enyaq 80x iV - The two all-wheel drive variants use the same 82 kWh battery pack as on the Enyaq 80 iV and both claim a 460 km range on it. First of the two, the 80x iV is able to produce a max power of 195 kW and a torque of 425 Nm, thanks to the second motor attached to its front axle. It boasts of a 0 to 100? kmph acceleration in 6.8 seconds.
Skoda Enyaq RS iV - The most powerful of the lot, the Enyaq RS iV produces 225 kW of max power and 460 Nm of max torque. This enables the variant to have the fastest acceleration (0 to 100 kmph in 6.2 seconds) as well as top speed - 180 kmph (all others are limited to 160 kmph).
Following the world premier of the new Skoda Enyaq iV, the electric SUV is up for pre-orders in several countries. In addition to the regular variants, Skoda is also offering a ¡°Founders Edition¡±, limited to 1,895 units, that pays homage to the company¡¯s founding by V¨¢clav Laurin and V¨¢clav Klement 125 years ago. A Founders Edition badge will be adorned on the leather steering wheel in these models.
