When Rana Naidu, the OTT series starring South superstar Venkatesh and his nephew?Rana Daggubati, debuted on Netflix earlier this year, it caused quite a stir¡ªfor all the wrong reasons. The audience accustomed to seeing Venkatesh in family-friendly movies for years found the Indian adaptation of Ray Donovan to be a bit too much because of its colorful language. The way that their favorite celebrities were using derogatory words on screen infuriated many.
Those who like Venkatesh weren't happy with Rana Naidu's portrayal of him since it was fresh and unusual. Venkatesh received a lot of backlash for mouthing crude words and using profanity, as well as for using his hands and body language to represent Naga Naidu. As required by his job, Venkatesh gave it his all and was really expressive, but his characterisation fell flat with his followers.
In a recent fan interaction, Venkatesh disclosed that he has considered every comment made for Season 2 of the series.
A few days back, while the actor was in Hyderabad at a college promoting his next movie, Saindhav, the students started asking him when Rana Naidu's second season will air.
Talking about it he said, "I am about to begin filming for 'Rana Naidu 2' from January 2024. That Naga Naidu (Venkatesh's character) is not a common man. People from worldwide have been asking us to make the sequel of the web show. All the youngsters have watched it and are now demanding for second installment."
?"However, this time, I will be much more careful. I intend not to offend anyone this time. Last time, people from our region got affected, but, I assure you, this time it will be good. However, it will have a tinge of mischief", he added.
'Rana Naidu' stars Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Gaurav Chopra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Rajesh Jais, and Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati in important parts.
Suparn S. Varma and Karan Anshuman are the show's directors.
