The first ever Indian television series, Dahaad, directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, produced by Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby, and starring Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah, is given the honour of having its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in the Berlinale Series Competition.
One of the co-producers, Zoya Akhtar shared the big news on Instagram and wrote, ¡°Dahaad at #Berlinale. The first Indian web series to premiere at the festival!¡±
This comes as great news for Dabangg fame Sonakshi Sinha post her box office flop Double XL.?

Vijay Varma on the other hand wrote, "We starting 2023 with a glorious news! #Dahaad ¡¯s roar echoes through the #Berlinale as it becomes the first Indian web-series to premiere at the festival."
The official synopsis reads:
Women are disappearing without a trace in Rajasthan and nobody seems surprised. But police officer Anjali Bhaati notices a similarity in the cases: long nightly phone calls and a boyfriend that no one in the neighbourhood has ever seen.
Only two of the eight episodes of the criminal drama will be shown at the festival.?
The Hindi series is one of seven works competing for the newly established Berlinale Series Award, which is presented alongside the Hollywood publication Deadline. Actor Andr¨¦ Holland, producer Danna Stern, and playwright Mette Heeno make up the jury for the award. On February 22, 2023, the winner of this segment will be declared.
Reema, the director, has previously worked on the films Made in Heaven, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and Talaash. Gully Boy, a prior production by Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment, was also shown at the Berlinale in 2019 in the special gala section. In the Zoya-directed musical, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vijay, and Siddhant Chaturvedi were the featured actors.
Later this year, Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi's web series will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
