While Jai Bheem couldn't make the cut, Indian documentary Writing With Fire has earned an Oscar nomination and it is a moment of pride.?
"We are beyond delighted. This is a massive moment for us and for Indian cinema¡ This film is about fearless Dalit women journalists who are redefining what being powerful means, quintessentially the story of the modern Indian woman," co-director Ghosh told PTI.?
Writing With Fire had earlier won top awards at last year¡¯s Sundance Film Festival. Supported by the Sundance Institute, the documentary was shot over five years, following the paths of the newspaper¡¯s chief reporter and the crime reporter as they negotiate what can at times be a difficult and dangerous world for women like them.
Other nominees in the category include Ascension, Attica, Flee, and Summer of Soul.
