Some people think that those who criticised Animal, a film that promoted toxic masculinity, are now praising Heeramandi, which glamourises prostitution.?
A Twitter user wrote, "Indian public is totally reflective upon indian cinema what they see is what they believe and what they follow sometimes it's toxic masculinity like #Animal and sometimes it's aesthetic prostitution like #heeramandi and sometimes it's the #keralastory and they believe it blindly."

Another Twitter user wrote, "Animal ko misogynistic & problematic batane wale are making reels in tawaif getup after heeramandi. turns out, if the audience is autistic enough, they'll take inspiration from any shitty media content. cherry picking peak."

"The fact that feminists complain about movies like animal (fair enough) but never utter a mouth when it's about trafficking women into prostitution like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Heeramandi says a lot about them," said another user.
A lot of people accused Sanjay Leela Bhansali of glorifying atrocities on women and showing it as women empowerment. They questioned why people who had a problem with Ranbir Kapoor starrer?Animal are now silent or rather praising the eight-part web series starring Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjeeda Sheikh among others.
