Actor Rajesh Kumar, famous for his role as Rosesh Sarabhai in the popular TV show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, recently shared his reasons for stepping away from acting to engage in farming fully.?

He expressed dissatisfaction with the entertainment industry's demands and the type of roles he was offered.?

Transitioning to farming, however, proved challenging, leading to the depletion of his life savings and eventual bankruptcy within a few years.

During an interview on the Rajshri Unplugged YouTube channel, Rajesh Kumar shared that in 2017, he decided to step away from acting temporarily.?

He expressed his desire to work on the family's ancestral land to his father, who initially thought it was a passing phase. However, Rajesh remained resolute in his decision.

He said in Hindi, “I felt I wasn’t growing as an actor, but in farming, I was like a painter with a blank canvas. That’s how I started. I worked for five years relentlessly on farming. All sorts of debacles happened to me. Nature played around with me. I planted 15,000 trees on 20 acres of land, and they got washed out because of a flood. Four years passed, and then the pandemic happened. Financially, I was on a slide. By the lockdown, I had used up my savings and was bankrupt. I didn’t have anything in my pocket. I had huge loans, and that was adding to the pressure.”

Throughout this period, Rajesh Kumar gained a valuable lesson. He added,?

“The day you stop thinking about yourself is when you start thinking about others, and that’s when others start thinking about you. It’s a circle,”?he said.?

“You have to start thinking beyond yourself if you want to do something meaningful,”?he added, expressing how proud he feels when his children describe him as an actor or farmer.

The cult hit initially aired from 2004 to 2006 and made a return for a second season in 2017.?

Recently, Rajesh and his co-stars gathered for a reunion dinner in Mumbai, bringing joy to fans of the beloved show.

Rajesh was also seen in season two of Yeh Meri Family, which also starred Juhi Parmar, a popular face of Indian television. Child actors Hetal Gada and Angaad played their children's roles in the series that premiered on Amazon miniTV.
