Security has been ramped up outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment following the tragic killing of former minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique on Saturday evening. Visuals captured outside the residence showed heightened security presence to ensure the actor's safety.
Siddique, a prominent leader of Ajit Pawar's faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and a former Maharashtra minister, was shot in Bandra near Nirmal Nagar. He later died from his injuries at Lilavati Hospital late that night. Salman Khan, who is known for his close relationship with Siddique, paid a visit to the hospital late Saturday to express his sympathies and support to the mourning family.?
This tragedy comes just months after Salman Khan faced a previous security scare. On April 14, two bike-riding assailants opened fire outside his Bandra home.?
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police have launched a formal investigation into Siddique's killing, registering a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the Arms Act, and the Maharashtra Police Act. The case is being handled by Nirmal Nagar Police Station, and authorities have already made shocking discoveries regarding the planning behind the murder.
Two those suspected, Gurmail Singh of Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap of Uttar Pradesh, have been caught. As the probe deepens, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar revealed that five teams have been deployed to different states to investigate the incident, promising answers within 2-3 days. Ajit Pawar also visited Cooper Hospital to meet Siddique's son, Zeeshan Siddique, where the body was transferred for post-mortem.
In light of Siddique's contributions to the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the late leader would be cremated with full state honors. Siddique had served as a minister in the Maharashtra government from 2004 to 2008 and held the position of chairman at the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).
