Woman Who Accused Karan Oberoi Of Rape Arrested For Filing ‘False Complaint’ Against Him

Last year, India witnessed a wave of #MeToo with several women coming forward to talk about the sexual harassment they faced. But were all of their claims true?

About a month ago, Karan Oberoi, the Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahi actor and the member of music band The Band Of Boys, was accused of rape by a woman, who apparently dated him in the past. She claimed that he raped her on the pretext of marriage.

Now, the woman got arrested on Monday. She is accused of filing a false complaint against Karan Oberoi and also orchestrating an attack on herself on May 25. She had claimed that someone attacked her while she was on a morning walk. According to her lawyer, she had got injured and a letter asking her to take back the case was thrown at her by two men on a bike.

It was on May 27 that the police nabbed the men who staged the attack on her. One of them, her lawyer’s cousin, revealed that he was paid Rs.10,000 to carry out the attack. Her lawyer has also surrendered confessing that the woman paid his cousin for this staged attack.

The woman, on the other hand, has refuted all the claims and stands by her allegations. She has accused her lawyer of framing her, according to this TOI report.
