After two months of nationwide lockdown, India now into Unlock 1, where the country is slowly emerging out of the restrictions that were in place since March 25.One of the major changes that have been made in Unlock 1 is for the first time in over two months all religious places have been opened for devotees to offer prayers there.?
But unlike in the past, the new normal comes with several restrictions to avoid contact and maintain social distancing. One of these is people can't touch idol or other objects while doing pooja. But how is a prayer at a temple complete without ringing the bell??
The Pashupatinath Temple in Mandsaur town of Madhya Pradesh has found a solution for this too.The temple now has a contactless bell that works on sensors. The bell was designed by a man called Nahru Khan and it starts ringing automatically on showing hands and face.
¡°I felt that there should be a way for people to able to ring the bell during the pandemic without touching it, so I installed this sensor.¡±"We listen to azan, so I thought clanging of bells should also be heard. It works on proximity sensor (able to detect presence of nearby objects without physical contact)," ANI quoted Nahru as saying.
Khan says that after three days of hard work, he has installed such a sensor in the Pashupatinath temple. The bell is tied to the roller, so the sensor roller pulls and leaves the rope. This rings the bell without hands.?
This is not the first time the 62-year-old school dropout self-taught mechanic has come up with such innovative solutions. His other innovations include soundless power generators for temples and recently he had come up with a Light Motor Vehicle Sanitizing Machine and a Human Sanitizing Machine.?
Khan's contactless bell has been an instant hit among the devotees in the temple.Significantly, since June 8, thousands of people have visited the temple till now and everyone is surprised and happy by the sound of the censored bell.?
A devotee Riya said, ¡°It is very helpful during the pandemic. It is important to ring the bell when we pray.¡±¡°It is necessary for devotees to ring the bell so as to reach God. This type of sensor made it easy for us to ring the bell without touching it. It is very useful during the pandemic,¡± said another devotee.? ? ?
