'Lord Shiva' along with 'Goddess Parvati' performed a street play in Nagaon town in Assam to highlight the issue of price rise and inflation.
However, it did not go own well will the local authorities who arrested the man dressed up as Lord Shiva for hurting religious sentiments.
"An accused who dressed up as Lord Shiva was arrested, and will be presented in court. 2 others, suspected to be involved are yet to be nabbed," said Manoj Rajvanshi, Sadar PS Incharge.
According to reports, the nukkad natak was performed to highlight the plight of a common man dealing with price rise and inflation.
Organisations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and Bajrang Dal filed cases against the actor accusing that the duo had portrayed the Hindu god and goddess in a ¡®bad light¡¯ and did not ¡®have the liberty to do so¡¯.
This comes days after the row over the Kaali poster started in the country.
The poster that sparked the controversy shows a woman dressed like Goddess Kali and smoking. A rainbow flag used for LGBT solidarity is seen in the background. The tweet that carried that poster has since been removed by Twitter.?
Cases have been filed against Canada-based filmmaker Leena Manimekalai in several places in India, including Delhi, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh, on charges of hurting religious sentiments.?
