After Bengaluru's Bellandur Lake, residents of Dodda Basavanahalli village woke up to the sight of lake go up in flames.?
Environment officer of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board KV Shivakumar claimed that the fire was caused by fire-tankers being cleaned in the area.?
"Deposits of petrol and diesel must be the reason for the fire. It seems empty tankers that carry petrol and diesel are washed in the lake," he told the Hindu.
Residents immediately informed the police and fire station. Industrial effluents infesting water bodies has been the main reason for this bizarre phenomenon.?

To no avail, just a few days ago the 1,000-acre Bellandur Lake, caught fire all over again. Factories surrounding the lake have been blamed for contaminating the water.
