After a brief lull, the oxygen shortage horror is hitting Delhi hospitals once again.
On Saturday, twelve COVID-19 patients, including the HOD of the gastroenterology department, of Batra Hospital in Delhi died due to oxygen shortage.
According to the hospital, five more COVID-19 patients are critical and they are trying to revive them.
Batra Hospital in Delhi on Saturday told the Delhi High Court that it was out of oxygen supply for over an hour, which resulted in the deaths of 8 Covid-19 patients, including a doctor.
Batra Hospital on Saturday told the high court that they didn¡¯t get oxygen on time.?
"We ran out of oxygen at 12 noon. We got oxygen at 1:35 pm. We have lost lives, including one of our own doctors."
The hospital has said in a statement that 8 patients died on Saturday due to lack of oxygen, including one doctor. "We ran our operation for almost an hour without oxygen supply," said Dr. SCL Gupta, Medical Director of Batra Hospital.
Earlier, Batra Hospital had sent an SOS message, saying, "Oxygen will last for another 10 minutes. 326 patients are admitted at this hospital."
Meanwhile, AAP leader Raghav Chadha said: "Our SOS cryogenic tanker carrying Liquid Medical Oxygen is reaching Batra Hospital within five minutes. Their regular supplier of oxygen has defaulted yet again due to alleged 'lack of oxygen supplies' and is being pulled up."
Shortage of Oxygen has been a major issue for hospitals across Delhi and other cities amid the spike in the number of COVID-19 cases.
A few days ago two hospitals in Delhi had faced a similar situation and dozens of critical COVID-19 patients had died.
The Delhi High Court had on Thursday asked the Centre as to why Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra were given more oxygen than they asked for while Delhi's allocation was not increased as per the request of the AAP government.
