This wedding in Hisar, Haryana turned into a COVID-19 nightmare as a large chunk of the people in attendance tested positive. As per a News18 Haryana report, 150 to 200 people attended the wedding in ceremony in Dogran Mohalla.?
130 people have tested positive and among them are the bride and groom. Police have registered a case but have not taken any action as yet.?
The wedding was on June 29. Out of the 130 who tested positive, 90 alone were from Hisar.?
The others hail from Pilibanga in Rajasthan, from Padampur, Ganganagar, Fatehabad and Sirsa.?
The case registered is under IPC section Section 188 and under Section 51 of Disaster Management Act 2005.?
According to police, since the people are in quarantine, their statements could not be taken.?
According to Dr Jaya Goyal, Deputy CMO, Hisar has seen 853 positive cases till now and 568 have been cured. ?
In India, over 15 lakh are infected, more than 34,000 dead and almost 10 lakh recovered.?
Worldwide nearly 1.7 crore have been affected along with 660,000 deaths. Just over a crore have recovered.
The rule clearly states not to have more than 50 guests at a wedding and these people broke every possible guideline of social distancing. When people step out of line like this it undoes all the hard work put in by those in healthcare who are fighting to keep us safe.
It also is not fair to those who are following all guidelines. One must realise the risk is not just for oneself but for others and it can lead to a chain which only increases in size.?
Hopefully these people will have learned their lesson and avoid such large gatherings in the future. The message is clear, do not gather in large numbers and keep a safe distance to avoid spreading.?
