Passengers at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru were in for a shock on Thursday evening after heavy rains caused mayhem there.
Water was seen gushing from the roof of the airport after the city experienced heavy rains on Thursday.?
In a video that has gone viral, the staff at the airport are seen trying to wipe away the pouring waters.?
¡°Due to excessive rains in the Bengaluru Airport area, some water percolated through the external wall into the terminal building. The breach was identified and the area has subsequently been repaired and cleaned,¡± an official statement of the Bangalore International Airport Limited said.
Bengaluru is the third busiest airport in the country and served over 33 million passengers during April 2018 ¨C March 2019.
This is the first time such an incident has been reported in Bengaluru Airport, but not the first such case in the country.
Last year a video had gone viral, showing water pouring down from the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam. In one of the videos shot by passengers, a baggage scanning machine was seen directly underneath a water stream.
A similar incident was also reported from the Chennai International Airport last year where visuals showed the staff using plastic trays to collect the rainwater which was pouring down from the roof.
