Yet another hit-and-run case?has surfaced from Noida, in which a two-wheeler rider has lost his life.
The deceased, identified as Kaushal Yadav, a resident of Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, was killed on January 1, the same day Anjali Singh, a 20-year-old Delhi woman, died after she was hit by a car and then dragged for 12kms on the road in Kanjhawala.
According to the police, Yadav, a delivery agent for online food delivery platform Swiggy, was killed in the early hours of January 1 at around 1 am, near the flyover at Sector 14-A in Noida.
It is still unclear how Yadav met with the fatal accident.
His family learned about the accident after Yadav's cousin Amit Kumar called him around the same time the mishap occurred.
The phone was, however, answered by an Ola cab driver who informed Amit that Yadav was hit by a car that dragged him for around one km towards the road leading to Shani Mandir and then sped off.
Immediately, Amit and others rushed to the spot and took Yadav to the hospital. However, he had by then succumbed to his injuries.
There are also some reports that the driver of the car that hit Yadav had stopped near a temple - about 500 meters from the accident spot - and fled the scene after his body came off.
Yadav's family members have filed an FIR at a police station. As part of the investigation, a police team went to the site of the accident.?
The car involved in the accident and the driver who informed the family about the accident are yet to be identified.
Police are looking through CCTV visuals from nearby areas to piece together the incident.
The accident involving Yadav happened just a couple of hours after?three B.Tech students were injured in a hit-and-run incident at Beta 2 in Greater Noida.
While two of the injured were discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, the third girl, identified as Sweety Kumari, continues to be in critical condition and has slipped into a coma.
In the Greater Noida incident, the culprit has not yet been identified.
On Wednesday, another hit-and-run case was also reported from Uttar Pradesh's Banda district, where a woman travelling on a two-wheeler was hit by a truck that dragged her for nearly 3 km.
Pushpa Singh, a junior clerk at the Agriculture University, was hit from behind by a dumper truck.
Pushpa's two-wheeler got stuck in the dumper and caught fire. The truck driver continued to drag Pushpa and the two-wheeler until the fire spread to the front part of his vehicle.
The truck driver then abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene.
