The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai has introduced the new premium AC coaches for Indian Railways.
According to reports, the new premium AC coaches come with several luxury amenities on board including an attached bathroom, conference room, and various other state-of-the-art facilities.
The new premium coaches are designed to cater to the needs of business and luxury travelers, the coach includes plush seating, high-speed Wi-Fi, an onboard entertainment system, and comprehensive safety features.
Last year, the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala unveiled a new AC 1st coach design concept. It included a compact cubicle for two people in the AC 1st class coach similar to the business class of an aircraft.?
In February, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha that the Indian Railways has designed a train that will run on a Hydrogen Fuel Cell.
Vaishnaw was responding to questions raised by BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar, who wanted to know if the government has made any advancement in the development of hydrogen-powered train technology.
"A project for the development of a Hydrogen power train using Hydrogen Fuel Cell has been taken up as a pilot project. The power train of this project has been designed," the Railway Minister said.
He added, "The production planned to be done in ICF, Chennai Production Unit. This train will demonstrate the use of Hydrogen Technology in Railways."?
Another modern train manufactured by the ICF, the Vande Bharat sleeper train will also be rolled out soon.
According to reports, the Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be introduced this month itself and the trial will begin in April. In the first phase 10, Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be introduced and the routes earmarked for new service include Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah.
