The Railway Police Force (RPF) on Friday arrested a 26-year-old man who routinely masturbated in the empty ladies compartment and spread faeces on the seats of local trains starting from CSMT in the morning. Officials said the man had targeted at least 10 local trains in the past one month which delayed services along the Central line.
The accused, identified as Karjat resident Dinesh Laxman Duvre, allegedly told the RPF that he derived ¡°pleasure from the acts¡±.
The investigation, which seemed headed nowhere for a long time, received a boost after the Duvre made the mistake of walking into one of the CR¡¯s newest rakes on September 9.

¡°The local train, which was headed to Badlapur, had CCTV cameras installed in the ladies coach. In the footage, the accused is seen walking inside an empty ladies coach with a plastic bag at 6:56 am. After ensuring there¡¯s nobody around, he unzips his pant and starts masturbating.
Afterward, he walks to the seating area, spreads faeces on them and later walks out,¡± said DV Singh, RPF in charge at CSMT Local. Officials said the train was delayed by nearly 15 minutes at Badlapur after commuters asked railway authorities to clean the train before it started.
¡°Such incidences were noticed in last few days. The matter came to the notice of Sachin Bhalode (senior divisional security commissioner of Mumbai central division) who ordered a probe,¡± said Singh.

RPF officials, who were notified about Duvre, were on the lookout for the accused since then, he said.
On Friday, sub inspector SB Patil, constable A D Mane, SG Borde and Dharmender, who were watching the Kalyan end at CSMT station, noticed Duvre loitering around suspiciously near a local train. He was rounded up and taken for questioning.

Duvre, who apparently works as a labourer at the vegetable market in Byculla East, admitted to the crime. ¡°He used to come to CSMT late in the night and sleep on the premises. The next day, he would collect his own faeces in a plastic bag and search for trains with unoccupied ladies compartments. If he found one, he would do his deeds,¡± said an officer.
A case under section 145 (b), 147 and 162 of Railway Act was registered at RPF post CSMT local. Durvre was sentenced to a five-day jail term by the railway court, CSMT.
