French President Emmanuel Macron, the chief guest of India's 75th Republic Day celebrations on January 26 will land in the country on Thursday.
Macron will arrive in Rajasthan's Capital Jaipur at 2.30 pm on Thursday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi who invited Macron as the chief guest of the 75th Republic Day celebrations, to mark the 25th anniversary of the India-France Strategic Partnership, will meet the French President in the Pink City.
On his arrival in Jaipur, French President Macron will first visit the Amber Fort also known as Amer Fort.
Located in Amer, 11 kilometres from Jaipur on a hill the Amber Fort which dates back to the 16th century is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the Rajasthan capital. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. At Amber Fort, Macron will be treated to a cultural programme showcasing Rajasthan¡¯s folk heritage.
Macron will "tour Amber Fort and interact with artisans, stakeholders in Indo-French cultural projects, as well as students. Thereafter, he will be received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the two leaders will visit a few landmarks of the Pink City together, including Jantar Mantar," according to an official statement.
From Amber, Macron will head to the Jantar Mantar at about 5.30 pm, where he will be joined by Prime Minister Modi.?
The two leaders will be given a guided tour of Jantar Mantar, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the Jantar Mantar, Macron will get a taste of Jaipur's famous masala chai and will be introduced to the UPI payment process.
PM Modi and Macron will hold a roadshow from Jantar Mantar to Sanganeri Gate at around 6 pm, and then visit the Hawa Mahal, built in 1799 by Sawai Pratap Singh.
Macron is likely to purchase some handicraft items using UPI at a shop near the Hawa Mahal.
Following their tour, the two leaders will hold in-depth bilateral talks.
Due to Modi-Macron's visit, the Amer Fort and City Palace will be closed to tourists on Thursday.
The traffic in more than half of Jaipur will also be affected on Thursday, as routes will be diverted due to VVIP movement from the airport to Amer Palace.
Later on January 26, President Macron will attend the Republic Day parade as the chief guest.
"He will attend the At Home reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan and, later, the State Banquet, at the invitation of the Hon'ble President of India, H.E. Smt Droupadi Murmu," an official statement said.
