Five people were hospitalised with severe internal injuries after they were served dry ice instead of mouth sweeteners at a restaurant in Gurugram.
The incident happened at the Laforestta Caf¨¦ at Sapphire Mall in Sector 90 in Gurugram on Saturday.
Ankit Kumar, a resident of Greater Noida, his wife Neha Sabarwal, and their friends Manik Goinka, his wife Preetika and Deepak Arora with his wife Himani had gone for dinner at the restaurant on Saturday.
According to Kumar, after the dinner, a waiter at the restaurant brought mouth freshener and five people in the group had it.?
Kumar said that since he was carrying his one-year-old daughter, he didn't consume the mouth freshener.
Soon they started experiencing a burning sensation and their mouths started bleeding and they were vomiting.
Their health deteriorated soon after and they were taken to a hospital, Kumar said, adding that the restaurant staff fled.
He alleged that despite their worsening condition, the restaurant management and staff did not assist them and remained indifferent.
"I showed the packet of the mouth freshener to a doctor, who said it was dry ice. According to the doctor, it is an acid which can lead to death," Kumar said.
Based on his complaint, police registered an FIR under sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Kherki Daula police station on Sunday.
"We are investigating the matter and action will be taken as per law," said Station House Officer Inspector Manoj Kumar.?
