For Helen Antenucci, age is just a number, and she has no plans to slow down yet. The 81-year-old grandmother from Boston, Massachusetts, is still going strong as a train driver. Antenucci, who drives trains for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) on its Blue Line, recently received a unique honor.
The Guinness Book of World Records has officially recognized Antenucci, who has been driving trains since 1995 when she was 53 years old, as the world's oldest train driver.

She was named the world's oldest train operator after a co-worker applied to Guinness World Records on her behalf. Antenucci didn't know about the application until the record was made official.
"I don't know what all the fuss is about. I get up every day and do what I love to do. Not many people get to say that at my age," she said. "I would like to say thank you to all of my co-workers, family, friends, and passengers for their support in making every day a wonderful journey."
According to Antenucci, she began driving trains as a way to get out of her house.
¡°I had five daughters. It was a way to get me out of the house and get some peace and quiet,¡± she said.

In the three decades since, Antenucci has made a name for herself among the MBTA staff and her regular passengers.
¡°I came from a well-known Italian family in East Boston, so no one dared to disrespect me. Besides, when I worked, I did my job well and earned my place in the organization,¡± she said.
Though her 82nd birthday is fast approaching, Helen doesn¡¯t plan on retiring now, or ever.
¡°I will bring my passengers to and from where they need to go until my organization tells me I can¡¯t, but I don¡¯t see that happening anytime soon,¡± she said.
