A supplement to extend human life may have been just been discovered by scientists. If you're tired of ageing, this new supplement might the fountain of youth we've all been searching for.
The new anti-ageing supplement was able to extend the life span of mice by 24%.?
Developed by Dr. Rajagopal Viswanath Sekhar from the Baylor College of Medicine, the new supplement tackles ageing by correcting a decrease in glutathione.
Glutathione is a natural antioxidant that is found in cells and plays a very important role in protecting our bodies from oxidative stress as well as from toxic metals.

Its levels go down as we age. What does this mean? Our bodies are exposed to more oxidative stress as a result. Due to this, the efficiency of our mitochondria starts to go down.
According to Dr. Sekhar, the dysfunction of mitochondria in our bodies along with oxidative stress are two primary reasons for ageing.?
Scientists were able to correct glutathione deficiency in mice by using a supplement called GlyNAC. The supplement was able to reduce oxidative stress and also maintain mitochondria's efficiency.
GlyNAC is essentially a mixture of glycerin, an amino acid, and a medicine called N-acetylcysteine (NAC). When mixed, this acts as a precursor to glutathione - giving scientists a chance to stabilise the correct level of glutathione in mice.

Now, they believe that this could a solid anti-ageing supplement. As of now, GlyNAC holds a lot of potential but we will know about its concrete anti-ageing properties with proper human trials.
