And recently, news of the Apple Watch saving the life of a person from drowning in an icy-cold river in Somersworth emerged.
A tech school teacher, who is an experienced ice skater was skating on the frozen Salmon Falls river when suddenly he realised that he had submerged in the icy-cold water. He may have missed out on the weak spot on the river that resulted in him crashing through it.
In a statement to local news agency WMUR, he stated how he was trying to get back up, but his attempt was rather futile, "First thing I did was try to walrus up on the ice knowing that I needed to get out of the water as quickly as possible and the ice just kept breaking underneath me."
It was late in the night and no one was there who could help him get out. Moreover, he would lose the grip that he barely had if he tried to reach the phone to call someone. He was in fact in the freezing cold water for several minutes till he sensed hypothermia setting in.?
Rogers tried to keep his cool in the life-threatening situation and avoided panic, ¡°I remember telling myself, 'OK, don't panic. Don't panic. Figure out what your options are here.¡±?
The very next moment, he saw his Apple Watch and using its SOS feature he called 911. He told them that he probably had around 10 minutes before hypothermia would get to him. However, the firefighters arrived in the next five and pulled him out of the icy hell.
In January this year, Apple Watch helped in saving the life of a woman who was kidnapped in the US through the GPS feature on the watch, giving law enforcement her exact position that resulted in catching the kidnapper as well as saving her life.?
This is yet another feather in the Apple Watch's product journey, as it continues to protect and save lives of its users in more ways than one.
