Not a big fan of constantly consuming audio-visual content? Do you prefer word summaries instead? A new Google artificial intelligence (AI) tool can summarise YouTube videos for you without having to watch them all.
Google's new chatbot experiment is focused on providing users more information about the video they're watching. In a Google support post, the company referred to it as a conversational AI tool that aims to answer a user's questions about a video while recommending related content.
The tool was announced with another AI tool that is designed to organise video comments into topics. The summarisation tool can also ask you questions about a topic in case you're watching an educational video.
It's no surprise that Google is investing heavily in artificial intelligence (AI) services with its recent push for AI integration across Search, Gmail, and Office productivity suite.
Recently, Google announced AI-centric features for YouTube, especially for video creators. These include AI-generated backgrounds for shorts, and AI dubbing feature to translate videos into other languages, and an AI tool for audio and video theme suggestions.?

In addition, the company is also working on an AI tool that lets users create their own songs in the style of well-known musicians.
Currently, YouTube's AI tools are part of limited experiments. The support page states that the conversational AI tool is currently only available in English on certain videos on Android devices - for YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States aged 18 years and above.
To access the feature, click on the "Ask" button located below the video. According to screenshots, you can pick from pre-generated messages to summarise the video or to recommend related content. You can also write your own messages.
