BTS reunion: On June 14, 2022, during their 9th Festa celebration, South Korean boyband BTS, comprising RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, announced a hiatus. The news quickly sparked panic among fans, with some K-media outlets confusing it as a disbandment. Leader RM stepped in soon after, reassuring ARMY, their fandom, that this was just a break, not the end, and promised they'd return stronger than ever.
Still, not everyone was convinced. Many pointed to their upcoming military service, saying the group wouldn¡¯t be whole again for years. Some even predicted that the members might drift apart or that the fandom might move on; after all, K-pop evolves fast. But here we are, nearly three years later, and ARMY has stayed right where they¡¯ve always been: loyal and hopeful. From regular heartfelt updates to hijacking the recent Jin live, the members have shown time and again that they have stayed the same¡ªin fact, more chaotic than ever.
Now, with just 30 days left until BTS officially reunites, ARMY is counting down the days with more excitement than ever.
BTS will officially reunite on June 21, with Suga becoming the final member to complete his mandatory military service. For those unfamiliar, the Agust D rapper has been serving as a public service worker rather than on active duty due to a past shoulder injury that rendered him unfit for combat.
Among the members currently enlisted, RM and V will be the first to be discharged, both on June 10. However, their discharges will take place separately, as V has been serving in the Special Duty Team (SDT) of the Capital Defense Command, specifically assigned to the Ssangyong Unit of the 2nd Army Corps. Meanwhile, RM is stationed at the 15th Infantry Division, a frontline unit based in Gangan Province.
Just a day later, on June 11, Jimin and Jungkook will complete their service as well. The duo enlisted together and have been serving in the 5th Infantry Division under the "Companion Soldiers" program ¡ª a system that allows close friends or relatives to serve alongside each other, providing emotional support during their time in the military.
Jin and J-Hope have already wrapped up their service, with Jin being discharged on June 12, 2024, and J-Hope following on October 17, 2024. J-Hope was the second member to complete his 18-month term, right after Jin.
ARMY is over the moon as BTS gears up for their long-awaited reunion. With all seven members returning soon, the countdown feels more exciting than ever. Fans have turned to social media to count down the days for the members' discharge, and it's all purple.
One fan wrote, "We have exactly 30 days for arguably one of the greatest reunions to be witnessed in pop culture history. BTS & ARMY's willingness to wait revealed the value we placed on the object we've been waiting for. It's freedom, pride, integrity, honor, etc., & June will give us so, so much more."
"My family will be back in just 30 days, and this longing will end soon," another user said.
An emotional fan noted, "Y'all, we really went from "BTS REUNION IN 2 YEARS" to "BTS REUNION IN 30 DAYS."
"Just 30 days, JUST 30 DAYS. In 30 days we will have 5 tannies getting discharged from the military with Taehyung, Namjoon, Jungkook, Jimin, AND last but not least, Yoongi. BTS will be reuniting as 7 on JUNE 21," wrote another.
What are BTS' plans post-military?
BTS' agency, HYBE, has yet to confirm the group's future plans, but rumors hint at a new album and a possible world tour. Meanwhile, all seven members are expected to continue their solo music careers, having already released individual albums.
