The situation in Karnataka, like many other states in the country, is worrisome. Entire roads and houses have been submerged and there's water as far as the eye can see. Same was the case with the bridge across the stream at Hirerayanakumpi village of Devadurga taluk in Raichur district. An ambulance was carrying 6 children and the body of a deceased woman to Machanoor village of Wadagera taluk of Yadgir district and it needed to be guided across the bridge. That¡¯s when a 12-year-old Venkatesh rushed to help.?
In the video posted by The New Indian Express below, Venkatesh can be seen running in front of the ambulance, making sure there is ground underneath and that it crosses the bridge safely. The boy, barely above water, does his best to make way for the ambulance.?
People have been hailing the little boy a hero and applauding his act of bravery.?
¡°I really don¡¯t know if what I did was an act of bravery or not. I just wanted to help the driver,¡± The New Indian Express quoted Venkatesh as saying.?
Even kids are doing what they can to help whoever they can in these stressful times.?
According to reports, after nearly two weeks of mayhem, the flood situation across western and southern India has shown signs of improving as the intensity of rain has reduced.
The situation in Karnataka's flood and heavy rain-affected districts has improved, and inflows in reservoirs are also steadily decreasing, as per an official update issued by the government.
