Students are pretty much ready to do anything when it comes to earning some extra credit in class. So, when Chemistry Professor Bob Burk gave his students at Ottowa¡¯s Carleton University the chance to get some cookie points by performing the periodic table, many jumped to grab the mic.
Carleton University's official Instagram account recently looked back at some of the most memorable performances from the professor¡¯s class.?The account introduced a compilation of performances and wrote, ¡°Throwback Thursday to when our students went above and beyond for some extra credit!¡±
The performances were in no way recent, every video in the compilation was years old from when Burk was still an educator at the university. ¡°Back in the day, science students in Professor Bob Burk¡¯s class took on the challenge of singing, rapping, or performing the entire periodic table of elements, and let¡¯s just say, they nailed it!¡± the page shared.
The video was a compilation of performances Burk posted on his YouTube channel years ago. There was Austin de Ste Croix¡¯s periodic table rap from 2013, Gabriel Paul¡¯s 2014 rendition of the table on piano, Emily Swift and Hailey Todd¡¯s combined performance in 2014, and Zavian Buchanan's Star Wars-themed performance of the periodic table from 2017.
These students went above and beyond to not only win some extra credits but also showcase their hidden talents in a STEM class that is traditionally not ¡°supposed¡± to involve any talent.?

People in the comments were all about the talent show for extra credits. One user wrote, ¡°The keyboard guy has my whole entire heart,¡± while another remarked, ¡°These were so funny.¡± One user loved the rap and wanted to see the whole performance, ¡°I wanna see the full rap!!¡± All-in-all people in the comments were impressed and jealous of the students who got to study under the fabulous guidance of Bob Burk.
