People frequently come upon loose notes lying about on the road. Some of them even claim them as their own and consider themselves fortunate to have come into this unintentional cash. But this teen's honesty is winning hearts today.
Yang Xuan, a Chinese child, 13, is an exception. He spotted a bag full of cash on the street and gave it to the police instead of saving it for his family.?
On the street, the child discovered 1,58,000 yuan (Rs 18.45 lakh). Yang Xuan's family, from Jiangsu province in eastern China, has been trying to make ends meet since his father was hospitalised after suffering a cerebral haemorrhage.
Yang was heading home with his mother, Zhu Xiaorong, on December 3 when he discovered a white suitcase next to a stone slab. He opened the bag to see what was inside, but what he saw surprised him.?
Yang told Jiangsu TV that he did not anticipate finding such a significant sum of money inside the bag. Despite his financial situation at home, he attempted to catch the owner who had just departed on a bicycle, but the man was moving at such a fast pace that Yang was unable to catch him.
The youngster then told his mother that the owner of the bag must be in a hurry and that he, like his father, may need the money to save a life, and he requested her to notify the police.
The police arrived quickly, and Yang followed the officer to the police station to register the report. They then used police assistance to hunt out the owner of the bag.?
Yang's school learnt of the good deed and conducted a ceremony to honour him, according to the South China Morning Post, with a police officer saluting Yang.?
