When Lady Luck smiles, unbelievable things can happen like finding a lot of cash when you're least expecting it, and better yet, getting to keep it. And it's not some small amount either. It's lakhs and lakhs of money that can literally change your life. This is what happened to one couple in the U.S. that had gone fishing and happened upon a lot of cash. When they reported their discovery to the New York police department, the officers allowed them to keep the money since it wasn't connected to any crime.
James Kane and Barbie Agostini, two 'magnet fishing' enthusiasts had gone fishing in a lake in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens on Friday. It was after throwing in a rope with an attached magnet that they pulled up the safe. Curious, they opened the safe and much to their surprise found bundle upon bundle of water-damaged $100 bills amounting to roughly Rs 83 lakh.?

Their luck didn't stop there. After they reported their discovery to NYPD, the cops told them to keep the safe given that it wasn't linked to any crime.?"We have found plenty of safes before," Kane told the BBC.?
"And then I saw the numbers and thought: 'This is not possible.' We pulled it out and it was big stacks of freaking hundreds," he explained.
"These are thick stacks - they're soaking wet, they're pretty much destroyed. There were no IDs, no way to find the original person, in the safe," Barbie said. "[The police] were like: 'Well, congratulations!'"
Magnet fishing has proven to be quite lucrative for the duo who?previously found a full-size motorbike, World War Two-era grenades and nineteenth-century guns.
