The ultimate course to up an adventurer¡¯s enthusiasm would surely be to traverse the seven wonders of the world in just a matter of 7 days. Bringing his dreams to life is Jamie McDonald, a 36-year-old who overtook the ultimate task of visiting all the seven wonders of the world in a week.?
The author and motivational speaker zoomed through four continents and nine countries for charity and set a world record. It took McDonald 6 days (March 6 to 12), 16 hours, and 14 minutes to see everything?the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal in India, Petra in Jordan, Italy¡¯s Colosseum, the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, Machu Picchu in Peru, and Mexico¡¯s Chichen Itza.?
The adventure was something that even AI thought was impossible. Before taking on the impossible task, McDonald asked?ChatGPT how long it would take someone to see all the seven wonders of the world, and the AI bot answered, 21 days.
In total, the man took a total of 43 rides to complete his ambitious trip. There were 13 plane rides, 16 taxi rides, nine trips on buses, four trips on trains, and one odd ride in a toboggan. All of his rides were scheduled, and none were spontaneous hitchhiking stops on the road. McDonald travelled a total of 22,856 miles (36,783km) while setting his record.?
A British technology company that helps travellers and travel suppliers book transport, Travelport, was in charge of handling all the logistics for McDonald¡¯s trips. The company also donated $1 (Rs 82) for each mile McDonald travelled to his charity organisation, the Superhero Foundation, which helps sick children.
The man lived on 12 hours of sleep during the 7-day trip and ate only plane meals for his journey. Though he did gobble down a pepperoni pizza in Italy before he ran off to see the Colosseum, McDonald said, "The flights were all economy class, and so all the sleep was basically slept while sitting up. I was sleeping like a nodding dog. It was like a dream, you know; there was no distinction between night and day. It was just all one blur."
He added, "I was secretly hoping this was going to be a nice holiday, but it really was a race against time." The "adventureman" spent less than an hour in every location besides the Great Wall of China, where he began his quest.
