Peanut butter sandwich is so last year; earth sandwich - THAT is the real deal. But first, let us go back to basics. Is sandwich something that exists to be eaten? According to Oxford Dictionary a sandwich is ¡®food item consisting of two pieces of bread with a filling in between¡¯. Now the dictionary does not mention what that filing has to be, and two men from different parts of the world took advantage of that vagueness.?
One man in New Zealand and one in Spain thought of making a sandwich, with a filing quite big - 20,000 kilometres to be precise.
These two men created an ¡®Earth Sandwich¡¯ by placing one slice of bread each on precise points on either side of the planet.
Etienne Naude from Auckland, had wanted to make an 'Earth Sandwich' for a long time, but failed to find someone on the other side of the globe. He posted a request - a hunt so to say - for someone to complete his sandwich and finally got a response from a man in Spain.
Naude and his partner figured out the latitudes and longitudes to ensure they were precisely opposite before placing the bread slices. To make the perfect Earth Sandwich, Naude had to travel a few hundred meters, his Spanish friend had to travel 11 kilometers.?
We made an earth sandwich! (bread on exact opposite points of the globe, facing the same way at the same time and the same kind of bread) from r/newzealand
Naude then used a laser cutter to burn an 'Earth Sandwich' design onto 20 slices of bread, but he used only one slice to mark the exact spot in New Zealand. His counterpart used nine slices of bread to cover the exact spot in Spain.
Now they just have to find someone who will eat this.?
