German Influencer Abuses Indian Street-Hawkers For 'Screaming'; Deletes Post After Backlash

Controversial Christian Betzmann, a German YouTuber, has angered many people in India by criticizing the country's hawkers. Betzmann described India's widespread vending cart hawkers with fiery words in an Instagram Story shared on Monday.?

The German man, who is currently aiming to tour all of India's states, was heard complaining, "20 dudes screaming in front of my Airbnb every day to sell their s***."

"I should buy all his pineapples and shove it up his a**. B***h," He made the remark on an Instagram Story that has now been removed due to the widespread criticism it generated.

Street vendors outside Betzmann's Airbnb were the subject of an Instagram video that quickly made its way to Reddit. People on Reddit criticized Betzmann for what he said, pointing out that street vendors are a big part of Indian culture.

Also, many people told the German YouTuber to think about how lucky he was before criticizing people who had less and were struggling to get by.

On the community news site Reddit, someone devised a plan to send Betzmann many direct messages. Several Indians were angry at Betzmann when they tried to teach him what street vendors meant in an Indian setting.

Several netizens ganged up and slammed the travel blogger for "entering a country and acting spoilt, entitled, and completely disrespectful."

Betzmann disagreed with the reasoning, arguing that street sellers lack empathy for bothering people to sell their goods.

"This country will never evolve because of ignorant people like you," he told the Instagram user.?

"This person pays 0 tax. Neither should they be allowed to have a ‘business’ and then break into gated society to scream around…" he said, concluding his comment with an analogy too distasteful to reproduce here.

Betzmann ended the heated conversation by stating, "Why do I argue with uneducated people like you who probably never left India."
