We all have that one store we love to go back to again and again. Well, it turns out favourite stores are not just a novelty for customers but also for robbers. Recently, Chicago police in Illinois, USA, arrest a man on the charge of 12 felony counts 11 of which were made at the same store between December and April.
The man was arrested on Monday for robbing the same retail store repeatedly. The man who has been identified as Donte Elbert was apprehended on West Belmont Avenue according to a press release launched by the Chicago police department.?
A representative from the department told Fox News Digital, ¡°He was taken into custody b/c he tried to pass the last point of sale¡without paying for merchandise.¡±?
The representative added that personnel at the store filed an official complaint against the 36-year-old robber who had stolen from the retail store 11 times in the past five months. This complaint led to the man¡¯s subsequent arrest.?
It has also been said that Elbert had also stolen from another store in a different location in Chicago. The alleged robber now faces nine felony counts of retail theft below $300, three felony counts of retail theft over $300, and one misdemeanour count of criminal trespassing.
Police refused to answer any questions in the matter even regarding whether they believe that Elbert is involved in any other cases of robbery. The investigation is still on.?
In a similar bizarre case, a Chicago man was recently arrested twice in just one day. People were shocked to find out that the man had been arrested consecutively for the same crime, breaking into cars.
The biggest shock of the case was not just the consecutive arrests but the fact that he did the criminal activity while being hooked up to an ankle monitor for picking locks on cars.?
When Rodolfo Santillan attempted to break into a work crew's van while wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet, it was evident that old habits die hard. Prior to this incident, he had been placed under monitoring due to two previous attempts to burglarize cars.
Santillan attempted to rob a car again just two hours after being held at gunpoint and taken into custody but was apprehended once more. The situation escalated when a concealed carry permit holder saw Santillan in his car and confronted him, ultimately pointing his firearm at the robber. When Chicago police arrived, the situation remained tense.
